Pruned Peanuts.

Once, ma, me and baba were walking down a busy street when we saw that in a shop window that packetsof pruned peanuts were kept. Now, I didn’t know that any such thing as pruned peanuts exist. They had a basket full of such pruned peanuts right outside their shop and you could buy one such basket for seven hundred rupees.

The store man told us that the peanuts were sort of trimmed to perfection (in machines), so they were called “pruned peanuts.”

A big packet of ten packets of such peanuts costed about Rs. One hundred and seventy five.

Ma and baba bought me one such packet.

The pruned peanuts were very tasty. But one thing that was not mentioned on the packet was that half of the peanuts were spicy and half were caramelised.

When you bought the big pack of peanuts, you would get one small packet of original prunes absolutely free. In the big packet which I had bought, a small packet of prune was there.

When we next time visited the shop, I asked the shopkeeper about it. He simply shrugged his shoulders and told us that he was ignorant about any packet of prunes being given for free.

I felt very cheerful about the peanuts and pruned or not, peanuts are after all peanuts.

Later on we had learnt that those peanuts were locally made in a factory and the name “pruned peanuts” was kept as a brand name.

Writing a Letter.

Letters with all good things have vanished from the surface of the earth. Letters In the old millennium would be written with such gusto and sincerity that had one concentrated more, then that person would have been eligible to excel in all good things in life, especially the difficult mathematics exam.

Letters signify hope, inspiration and longevity. The going forward of life.

A letter reaching its destination means the sender is well and is asking about the receiver’s well- being, generally.

An employment letter brings such happiness in a household, that the joy becomes uncontainable and unconquerable.

A letter of arrival of a grandson or a granddaughter brings inexplicable joy which rings throughout the house.

Such happiness would be associated with writing a letter.

It’s the reminiscing of the good old days, which keeps the art of writing letters alive even today.

Do write a letter to an old friend, an old acquaintance and see if that person writes back. Most will not, but the one who does, will remain to be truest, everlasting and genuine friend.

Pineapple Croissant with Hot Milk.

As Christmas went by, I was in for a delightful surprise. It seemed that with Jesus’s birthday, it was my birthday too, for Ma had made pineapple croissant with extremely hot, delicate and jellicious and delicious pineapple jelly. The outer crust was crunchier and the inside was filled with pineapple jelly.

Believe me, Christmas couldn’t have been so wonderful had it not been for Ma and Baba.

In the evening, we had those croissants with hot milk and again Ma promised a lot more beautiful food which only I can do justice to.

Pillow-Fight.

Pillow fights are a symbol of sibling hood and being children. Siblings often fight for things which are not to be fought for, for matters which are trivial in nature. These pillow fights are the main reason why a pillow maker can never be out of business.

In old times after getting up from bed, protocols would dictate that beds be made immediately. Children would follow that rule to the toe, but once a pillow fight began it would result in cotton flying all over the room. Though many like such things, personally I dislike it.

Pillows are nice and comfortable soft things made from cotton and to buy a pillow now a days costs a lot of money and anyone who allows their kids to indulge in pillow fight, need a lesson in parenthood themselves.

Pillow fights looks good in movies, but in reality pillows look and feel good when they are used for sleeping or for resting.

Its cricket and cricket.

The fever of cricket is reigning everywhere. Be it international cricket or domestic cricket the cricket of fever is in its high. Professional junior level cricket is being played infront of my house continuously in a non-stop mode. Local teams who have been sponsored by few companies are taking part in the tournament .The commentary is more rapid than the game and sometimes it feels as if the commentary runs the game rather than the game running itself. The crowd is also a loyal crowd and they keep on watching the game till the last over. But the thrill which one gets from watching an One day international match is unparalleled, especially if the first two batsmen can do their job. Twenty-twenty is the reigning format everywhere but ODI remains the king.

Hope you all have a wonderful time watching the game live in a stadium.
