Rice, Pickle, Sambhar and Chilled Water.

South India is famous for many things and it has given the world many beautiful things and one of them is sambhar. Sambhar is a type of dal(lentil) which is had with dosa and idli. Many people have adapted it in their own style.

So, in thousands and millions of Non-South Indian households sambhar is a regular and common dish item which is prepared regularly.

One day, due to it being festival time, lunch had not been prepared as they had decided to have outside food. But to some reasons, the restaurant management too had kept their restaurant closed and the family which had gone over there had to come back home empty stomach. They were a bit crest fallen, but the mother ( food always tastes best when it is made by mother) immediately had a God given idea, she prepared rice quickly and there was a pot full of sambhar inside the fridge and she heated it up and served it with rice, pickle and cold water to everyone.

The combination of rice, pickle, sambhar and chilled water does a miraculous job of satisfying the hunger and is a superb food.

Happiness comes in small things.

Try it once and it will definitely give relief to your taste buds.

Free, freebies and freeness is what we all humans like. If anything is free, even be it crap will get a human’s attention. Thousand rupees discount on purchase of Rs.4000, is a lucrative offer which generally leads to stores reaching their targets much before the month end and all sales men go home happily.

Shirts, pants,toys, shoes,toothbrushes, are all given in the offer of 2+1 free. People go the supermarket with a budget of about Rs.2000-4000 and end up spending nearly the double or triple of it. Kurtis, denims, stylish shoes are a big draw for ladies .If there is an offer of a jeans jacket or pant free for spending Rs.3000, then there will definitely be a rush in that store.

Offer on shoes drive both men and women. If any store which is making a loss, opens a shoes section and gives nice offers on it, then they are sure to be back in business.

But such offers are very common now a days, so much that many are weary of such offers.

In the old days, the maximum offer that they would offer is buy two chocolates and get one free. Such offers would bring a smile to everyone’s face.

Everything is 2 + 1 now a days, but the truth and smiles aren’t.

Thirty Chocolates.

Now, chocolates are a big draw for children. So a child was constantly nagging to his mother to buy twenty chocolates for him, so that according to the offer given, he would get ten chocolates free. His mother was adamant on the fact that she would only buy him five chocolates.

The boy-“I want to give chocolate to my friends.”

Mother-“You had given them chocolates the last month.”

The boy-“Please, buy it for me mom.”

His mother suddenly had an idea. When moms all over the world get such ideas, most of the time they shine with brilliance.

The mother-“I would buy you a hundred chocolates, if you finish two maths and science chapters by the end of this weekend.”

Instantly the boy said-“Mom, can we go home? I want to go home and then play with Ramu  ( his school friend).

Mother-“What about the chocolates?”

The boy-“ I still have two packets of the same chocolate at home.”

The mother nodded her head with a hmmm.

They paid the bill for all the items that they had bought at the store and after they got into the car, the boy was feeling a little bit sad, when suddenly a chocolate bar came infront of his eyes.

He looked in surprise towards his mother and his mother was smiling.

Taking the chocolate bar from his mom,the boy said-“Thank you,mom.I will go home and study those chapters and sorry that I asked for so many chocolates.”

His mother simply chuckled to his response and they went home happily.

This is a general story and the world is based on such stories which keeps it moving.

The Elephant in the Room.

The elephant in the room is a metaphor which is used as a metaphor. It is a famous one; which means –“avoiding the big problem or matter and skipping around it.”

According to me there are two meanings to the phrase-“The elephant in the room”. The first one is the famous meaning of it and the second one is what I have deduced from the phrase itself and that is-“the one who dominates or is the bigger matter over here.”

Elephants are magnanimous animals weighing around 5000 Kg on an average and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. So, imagine if an elephant is standing in a room, it will nearly take up all the space of that particular room and if a human is present inside that same room, then he or she will be cowering for protection or will seek to save himself or herself in whichever way possible.

In contrast to all allegories or metaphors or statements, an elephant cannot be present in a room by any virtue, save in a fantasy land.That is the only place where such miracle is possible.

Anyone with a dominating nature, is definitely the elephant in the room. There are many such elephants roaming here and there; worldwide, in offices, in schools, etc. But its a pity that in reality there are a very few of them in wildlife. Wildlife elephants are thousand times better than human beings who act as elephants. True elephants are caring, loving, protecting and preserving; wherefore humans have all the same qualities, but they generally take the bus which is going in the opposite route. To get on to the correct bus, it takes more than a Herculean effort, it requires God Almighty’s help, without which, the bus may keep on going in the opposite direction forever and ever.

Elephants hardly need guidance. They in their herd are well secured, established and always prospering. Though sometimes, they cause a lot of damage, but most of the time, it is due to being hurt or on being provoked.

Try to be the ant in the room ,as it is better to be ant rather than being an elephant.

For a human, elephant is a symbol of knowledge, memory, authenticity, tradition and maybe sometimes or often ego.

Good always begets good. Ego always begets downfall. Throw it away and be happy.

Bright Roses On a Sunny Day.

Gardens are everywhere. But rose gardens are rare. You will hardly find any. Artificial rose plants or artificially coloured roses are sold at every nook and corner of a city and they are costly too. One can buy a double breakfast by the amount spent behind a single rose.

In a town, a big garden opened up and within it was the gardener’s residence. At first it was barren, but with time and effort, he managed to fill the periphery of his residence with flower plants. After a month or two, the flowers started coming out and as days passed by, people would come and take a look at his flowers. We used to spend our evenings in the garden and on a day when the school was closed for some reason, we went to the garden at ten o’clock in the morning. The sun was glowing brightly, and we were playing with a ball and our ball rolled across and went near the rose plantation. We went to pick up the ball and there those splendid roses struck us. Roses of red and a subtle red colour were planted galore in rows and at both the ends, roses of yellow and light pink colour were planted in four flower pots side by side, making it a wonderful collection.

The rays and light from the sun was falling on the roses and those roses were glistening and shining very brightly. We were simply in awe. We had never seen anything such beautiful as this. It simply took our breath away. For few minutes we felt as if we were standing in the garden in Almighty’s heaven.

After collecting our ball, we started playing again and while going back home, we visited the roses once again and they were still blossoming and blooming with love and care of God Almighty.

The day was truly sunny and the roses were magnificent to be looked upon.
