Before you Travel- Sunglasses.

Sunglasses are popular worldwide. It is a handy commodity and they are very easy to carry. As we all know, while travelling, sunglasses play a vital role in ensuring that the tour goes on smoothly without any hindrance as they protect the eyes from harmful sun rays and give the eyes a cool and soothing effect.. I know of a friend who went to a famous place to a tropical region  and thinking that he wouldn’t need a pair of sunglasses, he didn’t pack it in his luggage and there at that the day, the temperature would be around thirty seven degrees to thirty nine degrees Celsius  and after spending two or three days in the scorching sun, his eyes became itchy, red and were a bit swollen. After showing to a doctor, he had to buy a pair of sunglasses over there and the whole fiasco cost him nearly $125 including the doctor’s fees and medicine charges. He had told us this story as he used to keep his sunglasses with him always and they were a constant reminder of those $125.

The next time you decide to travel, be sure to carry your sunglasses.

Paneer Tikka Kabab.

It is a mouth-watering, tantalizing and delicious food item. It is completely vegetarian. When you go to any Indian restaurant, you will find it available on the menu at most of the times. In vegetarian starters, it is an all time favourite.

The best part about ordering paneer tikka kabab is that it is prepared very fast and hence served even more faster.

Some chefs sprinkle garam masala over it and that makes it more tastier and tangier.

Whenever we visit pure veg restaurants, ma always orders for it and baba always orders for veg fried rice. To tell you the truth, I like paneer tikka kabab over veg fried rice as it is a dish on its own.

So, next time whenever you visit an Indian restaurant, be it in India, in London, in Germany or anywhere else in the world, be sure to have it.

Beautiful and scintillating green flower.

A Beautiful and Scintillating Green Flower.

A bunch of beautiful green flowers used to grow beside my house on a potted plant. The plant belonged to one of our neighbours. But since they moved to another place, they left their plant on the plain patch where grass grew infront of our verandah.  The flowers which used to grow on that plant were green in colour and were beautiful and scintillating. When sun rays would fall on them, they would turn into bright green shade and when morning dew drops fell on them, it would be a priceless moment for me to watch it.Every morning before going to school I would touch those flowers and shake off the dew.It would be great fun for me. By five thirty in the morning, I would be ready for my school and every single day, I would stand in the verandah and watch those green flowers changing their shade of colour with the rising sun.Sometimes, I would be late for breakfast while watching the flowers and ma would tell me-“do you want to have your breakfast or do you want to keep on watching those flowers?’ I would reply-“I am coming ma.” Saying bye to those flowers, I would rush for my breakfast.

The neighbourhood mali would water the plant regularly. One day his friend informed all of us in that neighbourhood that he was ill and he wouldn’t be coming to work for a nearly a fortnight. So a family in that area took that plant with green flowers to their home,as their daughter had liked the plant and they took care of it.One day, she had come to our house and ma had given her and me a Cadbury chocolate each and she(the neighbour’s daughter) was so very happy that she gave ma a big kiss and pulled a green flower out of her pocket and gave it to ma saying –“aunty, this flower is for you.Everyday, a flower falls down from the plant and I collect them.Today you have given me my favourite chocolate and I will share it with my friend Maria as it is her birthday today.”

Ma-“thank you child for this lovely flower.”

After a few days the mali got well and he too got a green flower from that little girl.

Ma asked the mali to get the same plant with green flowers for us as well. Two days later, he got us the plant and the plant was bigger in size and the flowers were in full bloom. From that day onwards, I would collect a single green flower and offer it to God’s altar in our home. I was very happy to have that plant in my house as I had been a little sad as the family had taken away that plant which used to be on the plain area infront of our verandah and each and every day I would remember that plant. But now, ma and baba had got me the same plant and I was extremely happy. The flowers were very cheerful and lucky for me.

Sweet and Delicious Apple Pie Lunch.

The great and happy apple pie.We all love it.Don’t we? I and ma had it today.

Till five thirty in the evening today we hadn’t had our lunch. We both (ma and me) were very very hungry.Generally during the afternoon time, all the restaurants take a break. So, we had to make do with the food from a nearby cake shop. But, there also nearly all the pastries, donuts and other food items were nearly sold out. They had apple pie, chocolate cake and garlic bread available with them. So we ordered for two pieces of apple pie and bought them. They delivered the apple pies home. Immediately, like hungry dogs we sat down to have it.You wouldn’t believe it.The pie was small in size, but it was heavier than any large sized meal.By the time we had finished nearly a bit more than half of the pie, we were unable to eat anymore. With great difficulty and after a lot of struggle could we finish it. We had to stuff pieces of apple pie in our mouths to make it go down our food pipes. At last when we finished eating it, it was stuck in our throats and wasn’t going down. I was choc-a-block full and couldn’t move an inch.If I had moved, then all the apple pie would have come out as apple goo and I would have had to clean that disgusting mess. On the other hand, the pie was beautiful, delicious, good looking and sweet and sober to eat. There was cream and sugar and it tasted marvellous, but it’s heaviness was over whelming.I have faced such situations before with pies as they are generally difficult in finishing in one go or one at a time. But a small pie would cause me so much trouble, that I couldn’t believe. It took nearly two hours for the pie to go down and settle inside the stomach, but it was a good lunch though it wasn’t an official one.

A Pair Of Shoes.

I used to have a beautiful pair of shoes. They were very precious to me. I was five years old when ma and baba bought them for me.They were bubble gummer shoes and lights would flash out of the bottom of the shoes and when walked, they would make squeaking noises. At the store, the store uncle first took my foot measurements and then he bought two or three different pair of shoes and showed them to ma and baba. Ma asked him to try all three pairs on my feet. He did so. The one which they most liked was the one which was very beautiful, nice, modern, latest and made of best quality in the market and had spunk in them, as I have mentioned before that they had lights flashing at the bottom when walked upon. When ma and baba selected that particular pair of shoes, I was very happy and very very delighted and my happiness is lessened to the power infinity if I try to describe it.  Wearing those shoes, I walked up and down on the store floor and while doing so, I was unbelievably happy. The store uncle packed those shoes and I went home wearing my old shoes.

After buying them, when we reached home, while climbing up on the bed, I asked ma-“Ma, when shall I be wearing those shoes?”

Ma replied-“When we go to (maternal) grandmother’s house, at that time wear those shoes and I will help you put them on.”

“Accha ma” was my reply. It means-“ok, ma.”

Two days after, we went to my maternal grandmother’s home in the afternoon wearing those shoes. While I was going there, the shoe’s lights were flashing, but due to the fact that the sun had still not gone down, I couldn’t see the lights properly.

We reached my maternal grandmother’s house and I left those shoes in the verandah. At about eight o’clock when we were coming back, I showed her my shoes.Today she stays with GOD and isn’t there anymore, but it was a privilege and grand happiness for me that I could show her those shoes.

In front of her house was a garden and on the muddy path there I was making those squeaking sounds with my shoes and suddenly my eyes fell on the bottom of my shoes and I saw them flashing multiple coloured lights with navy or cobalt blue being a prominent colour amongst them. There was a white street light falling on my legs and there I could see those lights’ beauty and I showed them to ma and now it feels as if I was watching Aurora Borealis. If you have ever seen it, then you will know that it keeps changing colour in a vibrant way and my shoes’ flashing lights were also flashing and glowing in that same manner.Today, I can’t wear those shoes nor do I have them.Only memories and tears and cheers are what is remaining of it.Just like my maternal grandmother. When she was there all joy and hope existed.Today she isn’t.So nothing does. Everything is nothing and nothing is everything.

Backtracking and that’s all.
