Two Last Ball Finishes.

In today’s T20 match between India and New Zealand, New Zealand won by sheer luck and by four runs, but the uniqueness of today’s game was that there were two last ball finishes.

The New Zealand Innings had ended with a four and the Indian innings had ended with a six.

Two last ball finishes are rare in a cricket game.

Adios!

N.B.-Last ball finish happens when any batsman hits a four or six on the last ball of their respective innings.

A Day of Cricket.

Sunday is a generalised holiday all over the world, but the kids and even adults in my locality treat it as “Cricket Day”.

In the half made stadium infront of my house, eight cricket matches are going on. Its street cricket what they are playing, but they have their own supporters who are serious about supporting their respective teams and those teams have visiting audience also. It’s an atmosphere which cannot be put into words for those who have never seen such a thing before. Plus the T20 between India and New Zealand is also going on, so it is truly a day of cricket.

Till the lights go out in the evening the boys in my locality would continue playing cricket.

Adios!

Sleepy Day.

It’s a delightful day as it is Sunday. You can wake up late like a lazy person and pretend to be asleep even when you have woken up.

Then comes the aspect of having your bath which all generally avoid till the end of the day or they don’t take their bath at all.

Everything seems to go slow on this day and the aspect of preparing or making food is a sensitive issue on this day and folks now a days order breakfast, lunch and dinner from food apps.

The next day morning the results of the digestion of the restaurant food comes out. If its all clear then you can go to your college or office, otherwise a visit to the doctor might be necessary which may include a day’s rest at home.

It’s a day when people basically chill and act as robots and if they are in their “good senses”, then they go to the movies in the evening.

It’s the day which we all wait for throughout the week and when it arrives we spend it sleeping it off.

Sleepy day

Have a nice Sunday as it is a sleepy day.

Happy Basant Panchami.

Today is Basant Panchami. On this day, Goddess Saraswati, the Goddess of knowledge, learning and music is worshipped.

In West Bengal, India it is celebrated on a grand scale with Basant Panchami being a state holiday.

In schools and colleges plays are done and the Goddess Saraswati is worshipped early morning in each and every house.

Many musical programs beginning from early in the morning are shown on television channels.

Radio programs on Basant Panchami are held throughout the day.

“Basant” means spring and “Panchami” means the fifth. Therefore, it is celebrated every year on 5thday of Spring.

Singing and musical competitions are held throughout the day.

In lunch khichdi, chutney, a mixed vegetable and ladoos and maybe some other sweets (according to the collections) are served.

Small girls and adult women wear yellow sarees on this day.

Before the visarjan of Goddess Saraswati is done on the next day, people eat a mixture of curd and beaten rice, puffed rice mixed with sugar, banana and sandesh. It is called Dodhikarma in Bengali.

This festival is celebrated in West Bengal and Punjab (both of them are Indian states) in a grand way.

In Punjab it is the festival which welcomes spring and at this particular period of time all the mustard fields look grand and flowing in beautiful yellow colour, which associates the yellow colour with this festival. Kite flying festival also takes place in Punjab.

Happy Basant Panchami to all.

Mental Maths.

Doing mental maths in our mind is like deciphering the weather for the next midnight on our own.

When I was small I used to have a mental maths book and whenever my maths teacher would give me a star, I would show it to Ma.

With higher forms of calculations, the chances of a mistake occurring is very high.

Mathematical calculations of simple form such as 11 x 8 = 88 is easier said than done, but a calculation of 236 x 89 = ? simply boggles our mind. The calculation 236 x 89 is not a tough sum but it is slightly complicated to be done in one’s mind.

Mental maths when done in a properly calculated manner and with a calm and cool mind gives correct result 99% of the time.

Mathematics is a very vast branch. Be it any form such as addition, subtraction or derivation or integration, trigonometry, etc., can be done mentally.

The only thing that needs to be taken care of while performing mental maths is exercising the calculation perfectly with extra care being taken that there are no mistakes in noting the calculating numbers.

Suppose the given sum is 24 x 2.

24 x 2 = 48.

While doing it mentally, you take it to be 24 x 3 = 72 and that’s where the error occurs in mental maths.

Mental maths is fun, it is a good type of exercise for the brain and with daily practice and a lot of clarity, proficiency and efficiency in mathematics can be gained.

Have fun while doing mental maths and be happy.
