A Golden Day

Once during summer vacation, we went to the zoo in Kolkata. The zoo is simply marvellous. We had a picnic basket with us and there were sandwiches, wrapped up burgers, cold drinks (which were cold due to being in the cool box in the car).

We had left our home, early in the morning, so that by ten o’ clock we would arrive at the zoo. That morning, I hadn’t had my breakfast properly, as I was too excited about visiting the zoo. The zoo seemed a long way from home and it truly was. It was nearly twenty kilometers from home and during the ride from home to zoo,I felt like a traveller travelling a big journey by the car. I played the car music, a bit loudly and I kept changing the playlists.Twenty kilometers in heavy traffic is a long distance, so by the time we reached the zoo,we had listened to about forty songs.

Then we arrived at the zoo and there was a huge gate at the front.

At the entrance, we had to buy the tickets and then we entered the zoo. The moment we entered the zoo, the scenery transformed into a beautiful view.

There were hanging and long flower shrubs arranged in decorative manner and the whole zoo was decorated with flowers. It looked really nice.

We visited the chimpanzee enclosure, where the chimpanzee was a bit far away eating bananas.

Then we visited the tiger and the lion enclosure, where the lion had such a face, like he was saying-“How dare you all come here?” The tiger was simply roaming about going left and right.

After that we saw the monkeys and visited the bird area.

Visiting the bird area was a wonderful experience. There were many colourful birds. One bird had a yellow colour head and there was an another bird who had violet wings.

A green and yellow colour parrot was ruffling her feathers.

A cockatoo was scratching it’s beaks and waving it’s wings.

One peacock was in a very happy mood and she was dancing.

Then we went to see the deer enclosure and after that we visited the giraffe and the elephant enclosures. The elephant trumpeted on seeing us.

Then at a picnic table we sat, to have our lunch from our picnic basket and we all happily sat and munchingly ate the sandwiches, burgers and after that we all had the cold drinks.

There is a sort of small island made inside the zoo, where migratory birds come, we saw the migratory birds too including the pink flamingo.

At the end we saw the bear, hippopotamus and rhinoceros enclosures. The bear would simply roll down and again get up and roll over it’s back.

Before going home we all had a double scoop cone ice cream.

We really enjoyed the day and it was truly a golden day.

I wrote this blog post in a childish manner, as I had visited the zoo as it took me back to my childhood.

We enjoy the visits to the zoo very much as all the animals are in the enclosures and we can roam about, eat , have fun and enjoy.

Avoiding the “big” glass of milk.

The glass of milk is an universally avoided food item.Give it to small children, whether a little girl or a boy. They will simply run away from it. Adults are even more super conscious about milk. If they even see a glass of milk, they will simply edge away from it. One look at the glass of milk and vamos, off they go to their schools, colleges and offices.Bye, ta ta, see you. That’s the universal motto when someone sees a glass of milk.

A breakfast table in the morning consists of three glasses of milk and three plates of bread butter toast. The family sits down to have the breakfast and in most of the cases you will find that two glasses of milk are nearly full, one glass is empty and the three plates of bread butter toast are also empty and those two nearly full glasses belongs to the kid and his/her  father.

There is no bounds about who likes milk or who doesn’t like it.But with hundred percent assurance,I can say that children nearly above the age of seven or eight years try to avoid milk as much as possible.I still avoid milk as much as possible. As soon as Ma mentions the word milk, I tell her that my stomach is completely full.

A man who comes home after working tirelessly in his work, the moment he freshens up, he will tell his wife, that give me some evening snacks. With that evening snacks if a glass of milk is given to him, then he will simply gobble up the food or the snacks and when questioned by his wife about the not empty, full glass of milk, he will reply-“no no, not now,I will have it tomorrow morning.Having milk in the evening gives me acidity.”

The snacks which he hungrily gobbled up will not give him any acidity at all, but a plain glass of milk will. Such an irony.

At last, I would like to say that have a big glass of milk regularly.

N.B.- I haven’t started drinking a big glass of milk regularly, but do hope so, that with strength, determination and confidence,I would solemnly be able to do so.

Why did you take my toy away?

At a mall, a family of five were going to buy ice creams. In that family, there was a boy aged about seven years and a his sister aged about five years.

They both were racing towards the ice cream stand and they stopped nearby the ice cream stand.

The little girl was holding an action figure toy in one hand and was drinking water from a small water bottle from the other hand. While she was doing so, her brother suddenly snatched her toy from her hand, did a whirl about and gave her back her toy.

The girl was still sipping water. As soon as she finished sipping the cool water, she became cross with her brother. She asked him angrily-“Why did you take away my toy?”.

Her brother held both his ears with both of his hands and apologized to her.

The girl nodded silently and forgave him.

Her brother did a whirl dance again and said to her loudly – “I will take it away again! Ho-Ho”.

Instantly, girl ran towards the ice cream stand and her brother ran towards his parents.

Later, the whole family were happily having their ice creams.

World Hunger Day.

The pangs of hunger is something which a little child knows nothing off. Slowly, slowly as they grow up, they realize what hunger is. Hunger is something which is a very integral part of our lives. Many say that they earn money to quash their hunger.

Many don’t know what hunger is, as they have so much in abundance that their fridges and minds are full with different and all types of food.Just wish for it and voila, your favourite food dish is right there, infront of your face.

A lot of people are very fussy about their food and many over eat also. They don’t know that how lucky they are to get meals, two times a day. A humongous number of people struggle to arrange for two square meals. Many go unfed. Food is a thing which unites all.

If you ever have a get together over the lunch or dinner and you call your family, neighbours, friends and you will observe that many of them will talk with each other while having their lunch/dinner, but a time comes, when nearly all of them will solemnly have the lunch or dinner quietly.

28th May 2018, is marked as the “World Hunger Day”.

Hunger for food often relates with rumblings in the stomach. As I am writing this blog, some sections in my stomach are rumbling for food.

Hunger often relates to energy being spend in a good way.

Always remember this, that the majority of the people are nearly under nourished, many can’t afford to have meals twice a day or their kids would have to go hungry.

A lot of people relinquish a special dish made at home, so that others can have their fill.

Parents with low income, often given their part of food to their kids, so that the kids don’t have any pangs of hunger.

Organizations, food donation camps and other sorts of help towards food donation does help a lot, but the truth is that hunger can never be satiated, as the world is always hungry.

Greed for different type of food is also a trend that has been going on for quite some time. One wants to eat this or eat that, without having any control over their taste buds.

A good example- Suppose early in the morning you wake up and after sometime you start feeling hungry. Now, there is no other food except the most famous and nourishing oats packet in your house. You keep rummaging here and there, but you find nothing. You go to the grocery stores, to the bakers and you see that they haven’t opened yet.

A lot of energy has been spent in going to the grocers and the bakers, and the hunger is doing somersaults in your stomach, so you rush back home, take out the oats packets, pour milk in a bowl, add the oats into it and the oats tastes like the sweet cheese cake made by ma.Then a revelation will come to your brain, that oats are the most wonderful food item ever made. But just an hour back, it was the food which one would never look at.

Therefore, hunger made oats the hero and the day saver.

Thereby, always respect food.Food is after all food.

In this hungry world, try not to waste it.

So, don’t waste food.Eat light.Be happy and if possible, have food happily.
