Fried Margosa (Neem) With Steamed Rice

The scientific name of margosa/neem is Azadirachta indica. My mother has a recipe for margosa (neem) with steamed rice. She says that by having this dish, all the bacteria, microbes and worm in my mouth, stomach and intestine will be diminished and exterminated. But I don’t like it at all.The taste of the dish is so and so and so and so very bitter that my mouth keeps on ringing bwaaaaahh, bwaaaahh and I need to rinse it after a gulp of it, but ma doesn’t allow it.Instead she asks me to gulp down a bit of water after each morsel and that makes the bitter taste go away. This recipe works very well for fever(just imagine that you have fever and you have to eat neem leaves to cure it, waaaa, it is a scene straight out of Nanny McPhee), diarrhea and other bacterial diseses.

For this recipe you will need:-

1.Fresh neem/margosa leaves.

2.Steamed rice

3.Original ghee or desi ghee

4.A pinch of salt.

First fry the neem leaves in cooking oil or ghee. Then take a plate, serve steamed rice on it and then add the ghee, the salt and at last add the fried margosa/ neem leaves and mix it well and serve. You will definitely enjoy this than any fever.

Neem leaves if you fry with cut brinjals, it is called neem-begun in Bengali.

Atlast I asked my mother that,ma can you cook pasta with neem? No! was the reply.

Tender Coconut Water

Tender coconuts are a miracle from God.It is such a fruit, that it contains both bread and water in it.Most of the countries have tender coconut available. One can see the coconut trees lined in rows near the sea beaches. There are particular places around the globe where the whole coconut vegetation is done.It is really fun to sip coconut water and that too when you are out in the guzzling sun.You go to a coconut vendor and he gives you the coconut with a straw inserted in it and as you sip the water, you feel that nectar is flowing through your throat-it is the drink for Gods to have and asking the vendor for the thick coconut creamy layer is a funny part, as you try to scrape out the creamy layer and try to get the most of it.This is a scene which can be seen everywhere now a days, in this hot summer. At home you can make a hole on the top of the coconut, insert a straw inside it and if and if you break the coconut, then you will get “the bread” i.e. the tender white thick coconut creamy layer. The coconut water is very rich in minerals, especially containing vitamin B,amino acids, magnesium and potassium. It helps very much in digestion and the same coconut water can be used for washing your face to get rid of acnes and pimples. It is good for removing scars and blemishes.

What I love the most about coconuts, are the coconut laddoos that my mother makes and the scrapped coconut pieces. Coconut chutney with little peanuts is the food item which I love the most and my mother has many recipes for it.

Dasvidania

Dasvidania is a Russian word, which means goodbye. Is it really goodbye? Consider a student who graduates and finds a job and says dasvidania to his studies for eternity, only to find out that, to get promotion in his job he needs to get his masters degree or he would be stuck with his worthless salary forever.People always say dasvidania without really meaning it.This word got prominence internationally a few years back and people started using it a lot.

Well then, Dasvidania.
